For a Macedonia homeowner, the honest answer is that six yards sit within nine miles of the Macedonia map pin, and the one closest to you is Nordonia Landscape Supplies at 1.4 miles. This article ranks all six by straight-line distance from the Google Maps pin for Macedonia, Ohio, measured on 9/24/2026 from each listing's Google Maps coordinates and rounded to a tenth of a mile. O'Bryan Topsoil and Compost, the company that publishes this site, lands fourth of six at 7.7 miles, and the article says so rather than moving itself up. Every fact below was pulled on 9/24/2026 from each yard's own website or its Google Business listing, and nothing else is claimed about any of them.
Here's the short version:
- Straight-line distance is not driving distance, and the two are not the same thing in this part of Summit County.
- Of the six, compost is listed on the sites of Earth 'n Wood / Kurtz Bros., O'Bryan Topsoil and Compost, The Sagamore Companies and Kolenz Transport, Inc. as of 9/24/2026.
- Delivery pricing is published on the sites of O'Bryan Topsoil and Compost and Kolenz Transport, Inc. as of 9/24/2026, and Macedonia is not on the Kolenz published list.
How we compared
One metric does the ranking, and that metric is distance. Straight-line miles from the Macedonia pin to each yard's Google Maps coordinates, computed 9/24/2026, rounded to a tenth of a mile. It is a crow-flies number, not a route, so a yard a little further out on this list may be a shorter drive depending on which roads you use.
Everything else in the table is reported, not scored. There is no ranking here on quality, service or value, and no yard is described as better or worse than another. Where a yard's site does not show something, the table says it is not published or not listed on its site as of 9/24/2026, which is a statement about the website and nothing more. Google ratings and review counts are as shown on 9/24/2026 and they change over time, so treat them as a snapshot. Hours are given as published, with the source noted, and hours also change.
What leaf compost is, and when to order it for a Macedonia yard
Leaf compost is leaf material aged until it breaks down into a dark, crumbly product. It is used to build new beds, feed vegetable gardens and work into tired lawns. It is an amendment you mix into the soil you already have, not a replacement for topsoil and not bark mulch for the top of a bed. Worked into heavy clay it improves drainage, and in sandy soil it helps hold moisture where roots can reach it, which is the whole reason it comes up so often around here. If you want the longer version of what it does underground, our guide on what leaf compost actually does to heavy clay soil in Northeast Ohio walks through it.
Timing matters more than most people expect. A late October order is the last window before spring, and a fall application gets the winter freeze and thaw cycles to work the material in for you. Coverage math is simple. One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at three inches deep.

What to ask any yard before you order
Six short questions get you most of the way there.
- What went into the compost, and is the product sold as compost or as a mulch or a blend.
- How many square feet will one yard cover at the depth you need. One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at three inches deep.
- How many yards fit on one load, since that sets how many trips your order takes.
- What the delivery charge is to a Macedonia address specifically, not to the yard's home town.
- Where the pile will land, and whether the truck can reach that spot.
- Whether the yard is open in the season you are working in, because several of these yards publish seasonal or appointment hours.
Ordering leaf compost from O'Bryan Topsoil and Compost
We are independently owned in Stow and have been running since 1993. The material side trades as O'Bryan Topsoil and Compost out of our own yard at 859 Seasons Rd Suite 1, where everything is screened, stacked and loaded. Leaf compost delivery is sold by the cubic yard and delivered by dump truck, up to 8 yards per load, which is a larger load than the 5 yard limit on screened topsoil and asphalt millings. Macedonia is on our published delivery list, and delivery there is $50 per load.
Tell us the bed or the lawn area and we will size the load with you. If you are building up a surface rather than amending what is already there, bulk screened topsoil delivery is the other half of that conversation, and for drives and lanes we also run asphalt millings delivery. Material is placed where the dump truck can safely reach, typically the curb or the end of a driveway, and we do not typically drive across lawns to deliver. Past the curb we are not responsible for damage to driveways, sidewalks, homes, garages, fences, plants, vehicles or utility wires, so pick your drop spot with that in mind.
One of our Stow customers put it this way. "Got great screened topsoil from them. Good material that actually smells like topsoil and doesn't have a bunch of mulch fines in it like some of the mulch places do. I'll be using them again." Vental W., Stow, OH.
The material yard runs weekdays 9 to 5 in the warm months, roughly April through October, so a late October order is the last window before spring. To check the charge to your street and get a load scheduled, see the bulk material delivery details and coverage area or call (330) 805-7556.
FAQs
Does the 7.7 mile figure mean O'Bryan is that far to drive from Macedonia?
No. Every mileage number in the table is straight-line distance from the Google Maps pin for Macedonia to each yard's Google Maps coordinates, computed on 9/24/2026. Driving distance follows roads and will be different for every yard on the list.
Is delivery to Macedonia free on a large load?
No. Delivery is $50 per load, and the free delivery on screened topsoil and leaf compost on loads of 4 yards or more applies only in Stow and Hudson. A Macedonia delivery is $50 per load regardless of size.
How much leaf compost do I need for a bed in Macedonia?
One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at three inches deep, so measure the length and width of the area and work from there. Up to 8 yards of leaf compost fits on one load. Tell us the project and we will size it with you.
What is the difference between topsoil and leaf compost?
Topsoil is what you build with, the material you use to fill, grade or top dress. Leaf compost is an amendment you mix into existing soil to add organic matter. In heavy clay it improves drainage, and in sandy soil it helps hold moisture.
Where will the truck put the pile?
Material is placed where the dump truck can safely reach, which usually means the curb or the end of a driveway. We do not typically drive across lawns to deliver, and past the curb we are not responsible for damage to driveways, sidewalks, homes, garages, fences, plants, vehicles or utility wires.
Need material delivered?
Tell us the material, the town and roughly how many yards, and we will size the load with you.
